Carya Golf Club, a unique heathland inspired golf course on Turkey's Mediterranean coast, has opened for play.
Designed by Thomson Perrett & Lobb, the international golf course architecture practice founded by five times Open Championship Peter Thomson, Carya Golf Club is a naturally beautiful golf course set on undulating sand Hills with holes that cut through pine and eucalyptus woodland in Belek, near Antalya
Inspired by the classic heathland courses founded in the UK, such as Sunningdale and The Berkshire, nearly one millione heather sprigs have been planted around the Course, giving it distinct appearance. In a first of its kind Project, the heather was propagated on site in especially constructed glasshouses.
Carya Golf Club has been designed to be enjoyed by all golfers. The free flowing holes run between umbrella type pine and eucalyptus trees and across a dramatic sand ridge.
Among the outstanding holes is the par-3 7th, an iconic short hole over a stream and hollow, with diagonal heather topped bunkers guarding the gren entrance. Carya Golf Club has also opened a luxurious new clubhouse to welcome international visiters, featturing comfortable changing facilities and a stylish outdoor terrace bar, resonating to the sounds of a cooling water feature
Visitors to Carya Golf Club will also be able to benefit from a state of the art golf academy, driving range and short course.
Carya Golf Club is situated in the heart of the Belek tourism region on Turkey's southern coast, close to the city of Antalya and its intenational Airport. There are numerous hotels within a short distance of the golf course.
